What is this tour about?
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and interesting walks in Granada. The common thread will be the figures of the Catholic Monarchs and the conquest of Granada in 1492. This walk will help you understand what this tremendously important moment meant in Spanish history and reveal how Granada society evolved afterward.
Which places will we visit during this walk?
It is possible (upon request) to visit our fabulous cathedral, the first Renaissance structure built outside of Italy, and an unequivocal symbol of the city. We cannot forget the spectacular Royal Chapel, the burial place of the Catholic Monarchs, as well as other personalities who shaped the destiny of Granada and Spain.
We will walk through the nerve center of the city, where the Yusufiyya Madrasa is located (Granada´s old Koranic school), through the nearby Alcaiceria (old silk market), through lively Bib Rambla square, and through the Corral del Carbon (Coal Courtyard), the last Arab grain store still standing on the Iberian Peninsula.
Many surprises are included in this tour which will undoubtedly transport you back in time, to an unsettled, yet at the same time renewing society, which preserved its Moorish traditions in pursuit of a cultural melting pot that makes up our beloved Granada today.
